Varia rearview radar watches the road behind you and tells your bike computer or watch when a vehicle is approaching, up to 140 metres back, across a 40 degree beam. Threats are classified by speed, so a car closing quickly reads differently from one following at your pace. It is the single accessory most road riders describe as changing how a busy road feels.
Three versions are available. RVR315 is radar alone, 51 g, with 7 hours of battery — the choice if you already run a tail light you like. RTL515 adds a tail light with solid, peloton, night flash and day flash modes at up to 65 lumens, visible up to a mile in daylight, with 6 to 16 hours of battery depending on mode. RCT715 adds a camera on top of that, recording 1080p or 720p at 30 fps continuously, on demand or triggered by radar, with a 16 GB card included and automatic footage locking if the accelerometer detects an incident.
All three connect over ANT+ and Bluetooth to Edge bike computers, compatible Garmin watches and the Varia app, and all three carry an IPX7 water rating.
