Edge 1050 is the top of Garmin's cycling computer line, and the clearest sign of that is the screen: a 3.5-inch liquid crystal display running 480 x 800 pixels, bright enough to read maps and data fields at a glance in full daylight and detailed enough that route lines and street labels stay legible while you are moving.
The unit carries 64 GB of internal storage for maps and courses, connects over Bluetooth, ANT+ and Wi-Fi, and holds up to 200 hours of ride history, 200 saved locations and 100 courses. A built-in speaker gives audible turn prompts and alerts, which is a genuine difference on a busy road where a vibration alone is easy to miss.
Battery runs up to 20 hours in demanding use and up to 60 hours in battery saver mode. The improved on-device course creator lets you build a route from the unit itself rather than a phone, incident detection covers off-road riding, and the computer pairs with power meters, smart trainers and Garmin's radar and lighting accessories.
